Having trouble sleeping? Tossing & turning throughout the night? Walking up super early? Just can’t get a good nights sleep? I have a little tip for you guys, one that you have probably heard loads but I also know a few things you might not. Hot milk. What a life saver this has been since Christmas. When its the start of a new year people tend to put a lot of pressure on to themselves, what am I doing with my life? All my friends are getting on with their lives and I don’t know what I’m doing… Sound familiar? January is the month where everyone puts themselves down, stresses about everything and worries ten times more. I have to say I’ve felt exactly that as well as my anxiety everything seems ten times worse than what it is. So anyway, my mum recommended hot milk. I have slept like a baby every night, not waking up during the night, not struggling to fall asleep & it has been a god send!
It is crazy how many people don’t drink milk as part of their diet, milk has huge benefits & people need to realise how much it actually helps. Here are a few benefits:
Cleopatra took milk baths to help her skin stay soft and glowing. You can do the same, or you can drink a few glasses of whole milk each day to get its benefits. Milk has several nutrients which help skin look its best. It has lactic acid which can act as an exfoliant and enzymes to help smooth skin. It also has amino acids that help keep skin moisturised. Milk can help prevent damage from environmental toxins because it has antioxidants. So who knew that you don’t need expensive moisturisers to have soft skin?
Healthy Bones & Teeth
Milk is a great source of calcium, which is essential for healthy bones. Not only do young children need it while their bones are growing, but adults need it to keep their bones strong too. Milk is also great for strong teeth, and it helps prevent tooth decay and cavities. Bye bye dentist.
Milk contains protein, which helps to rebuild muscles. Drink a glass of milk after you exercise to give your body what it needs to recover. It will help to keep soreness at bay while replenishing fluids that you lost during your workout. Anything that helps the pain after working out, I’d like to be able to get up the stairs the next day.
Studies show that women who drink low-fat or skim milk lose more weight than those who exclude milk from their diet. It is a great appetizer and it makes a healthy snack. Add a glass to your dinner, or drink a glass while eating a piece of fruit. So milk helps you lose weight not put it on? Who knew.
Milk is a great way to de-stress at the end of the day. A glass of warm milk will help to relax tense muscles and soothe frayed nerves. Milk has also been proven to reduce symptoms of PMS(note this down girls) and boost energy. The next time you are feeling frazzled, try drinking a glass of milk while you soak in a bubble bath.

It is crazy that milk can help with all these things, so many benefits and I have to say after putting this in my diet every day I have felt very de-stressed mainly from getting a full nights sleep but my skin is healthier as well. Obviously not everyone can drink milk in their diet but there are plenty other things that can give similar benefits such as green tea. I just thought I’d share this with you as it has been really helping me the last few weeks and it could maybe help you. One or two sugars help sweeten it up for a lovely bedtime drink.
